Thomas Randle was delighted to benefit from a “Days of Thunder” move on the opening lap to clinch his best solo race result in Race 10.

Randle finished eighth in the chaotic race, which was won by Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Anton De Pasquale from pole position.

The 2020 Super2 champion started the 24-lapper from 14th, and found himself eighth after dodging the first-lap chaos which eliminated Tickford stablemate Cameron Waters.

He managed to finish eighth, but pressured Race 9 winner Andre Heimgartner to the line.

"Firstly, I’ve just got to thank the team, Tickford Racing, for giving me an amazing car,” the 25-year-old said.

"Look, we did get pretty lucky there at the start.

"I kind of just did a Days of Thunder and stuck to the inside.”

Randle, who is being engineered by Raymond Lau, said his effort to remain in the top 10 was a result of genuine pace.

It came after he finished 17th in the wet-dry Race 9 on Saturday.

"I got very lucky [on lap 1] but I think we genuinely had some pace,” he said.

"We opted to stay long… that was the first time I’ve ever done a pit stop for only two tyres.

"A lot of new learning experiences. To be putting pressure on Andre at the end there was really cool.”

Kurt Kostecki, the other wildcard at this weekend’s event, finished 16th in the #27 Mobil 1 Walkinshaw Andretti United Commodore.

Randle will start Race 11, the final race of the weekend, from 16th.

The Repco Supercars Championship field will return for Race 11 at 4:10pm AEST. Check out the full weekend schedule here.

The OTR SuperSprint will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo with highlights on 7 and 7 Plus.
