Team 18 offers driver contract timeline update

Team 18 is in no rush to confirm its 2027 line-up, instead putting focus into getting both its drivers in the 2026 Supercars Finals.

The General Motors homologation squad had emerged as one of a number of players in the Supercars silly season, amid links to championship leader Matt Payne.

Payne, however, recently committed to Penrite Racing for 2027 in a decisive statement prior to Darwin, leaving the door open for Bathurst winner David Reynolds to continue with Team 18.

Just as it was in 2025, Team 18 isn't sprinting to confirm its line-up, with Reynolds' last option only activated on the eve of last October's Repco Bathurst 1000.

With Payne locked away at Penrite Racing, Reynolds is expected to remain with Charlie Schwerkolt's team, and did himself no harm at all with an impressive performance on Perth Sunday amid cramping dramas.

Title sponsor Snowy River Caravans has also arrived at the team, with sponsor savvy Reynolds joined by the equally effusive James Courtney for the enduros.

Reynolds has constantly insisted that his performance will dictate what happens, while also reiterating the importance of overall car speed.

When asked if there is a timeline on a decision, Team 18 Team Principal Adrian Burgess told media: “No, we’re focusing on each weekend as it comes.

“We’re focusing on keeping Anton in the Finals, we’re focusing on trying to get Dave into the Finals.

"Those things will take care of themselves when they need to.

“At the moment we’re a long way off needing to really worry about that."

Reynolds is currently 223 points adrift of the Finals cut-line heading to the Sprint Cup finale, with a maximum of 915 points available in the next three rounds. The winner of the Ryco Enduro Cup also secures direct passage to the Finals, irrespective of points position.
