Walkinshaw TWG secures Chaz Mostert, Ryan Wood on new deals
Reigning champion, rising star commit to Toyota in big silly season statement
Mostert set to be decade driver with Walkinshaw team
Walkinshaw TWG Racing has made a big driver market play by extending the contracts of reigning champion Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood.
Confirmed on the eve of the ITM Taupō Super 440, Mostert and Wood have both signed multi-year extensions with the Toyota team.
Described as "multi-year" extensions, the deals are set to take Mostert and Wood through to at least 2028, continuing a series of long-term extensions for Supercars stars.
Notably, Brodie Kostecki (2030), Kai Allen (2030), Broc Feeney (2029) and Will Brown (2029) have all secured extensions with their respective teams.
Cam Waters and Thomas Randle are also locked in with Tickford Racing through 2027, with Jobe Stewart, Cameron Hill and James Golding also staying put.

The biggest question mark in the driver market surrounds Bathurst champion Matt Payne, who despite being contracted to Penrite Racing until 2027, has been linked to General Motors.
Late last year, there was fleeting speculation that Mostert could pursue a move elsewhere, including links to the new SCT Motorsport/Triple Eight tie-up. However, Mostert quickly quashed those rumours, insisting he was contracted for 2026.
Fast forward six months, and the new extension takes Mostert towards a decade with WTWGR, having joined the then Holden team from Tickford Racing in 2020.
Since joining the team, Mostert has added a championship (2025), Bathurst win (2021), 15 race victories and 59 podiums to his name.
“This team has been like my family for the last seven years and there is nowhere I would rather be, so I’m pumped to know I’m here for the long haul,” Mostert said.
“We’ve had each other’s backs through the highs and lows over the years, we had some big goals when I joined, and as awesome as 2025 was to finally achieve what we worked so hard for, we aren’t done with yet.

“There’s no doubt this new era we started this year with Toyota is the most exciting yet, so much has happened already, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings. It was an easy decision from my end to keep going, and I’m glad the team has showed the faith back…. I think I might be up for long-service leave soon.
“Having Woody alongside me was important as well, there’s no doubt he has pushed me and made me a better driver, we have a lot of fun together, but importantly, we want to both make this team stronger which is really important to me.
“This team is one big family, I’m so proud to represent the guys and girls who work here on track, but also all our partners who make it possible, it’s a really special environment.”
Wood, meanwhile, was picked up by the team for Super2 in 2023, and made the leap to the main game the following year.
“I’m so excited to continue to call Walkinshaw TWG Racing home for a long time. It wasn’t a hard decision to make, and didn’t take much thought to be honest, this is where I want to be long term,” Wood said.
“Walkinshaw TWG Racing took a punt on me back in 2023 and they’ve been my biggest supporters since, there is no other team I would want to continue my Supercars journey with.
“Having Chaz as my teammate long term is awesome as well. I’ve learnt so much from him in a short time, we push each other really well, and it’s great for everyone to have that continuity long term so we can just focus on the important stuff – and continue the trajectory we are on.
“A big thank you to the people that have had my back too, Mobil 1, Truck Assist, all our partners, and the team around me as well, I wouldn’t be in this position without them.“It’s a family here, and we’ve got some big things ahead of us."
Wood and Mostert are seventh and 10th in points heading to New Zealand this weekend.
