Rising star Rylan Gray scores Dick Johnson Racing drive
Teenager Gray to race alongside Brodie Kostecki from 2026
18-year-old holds a commanding lead in the Super2 standings
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has signed rising star Rylan Gray to race alongside Brodie Kostecki from 2026.
The current Dunlop Super2 Series leader will make his full-time main game debut next season, replacing the outgoing Will Davison. Gray holds a commanding lead in the Super2 standings and is in the box seat to clinch the title in Adelaide next month.
The New South Welshman is one of Australian motorsport’s brightest talents, and made his Supercars debut with Tickford Racing this year.
Gray made a solo appearance in Darwin in June, before racing alongside Super2 teammate Lochie Dalton at The Bend and Bathurst.
Away from Supercars, Gray — who is entrenched in the Ford family — became the first race winner in the Ford Mustang GT4 outside of North America last year.

He also became the youngest ever Super2 round winner in Bathurst last year. Gray, who turns 19 in November, is the youngest driver signed on for 2026.
In a team statement, DJR said it, "has structured a comprehensive development program for Gray's rookie season, with a focus on consistent finishes and progressive improvement across the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship."
"This is my dream opportunity. Brodie's one of the best in the business and having him as my teammate will fast-track my development,” Gray said.
"I'm under no illusions about how tough my rookie year will be, but I'm ready to work hard and learn from everyone at the Shell V-Power Racing Team.
"I'm so thankful to the Doc, Dick and Jillie Johnson and the Ralph family for this opportunity.”
Executive Chairman Dr Ryan Story said the signing marked a key strategic shift for DJR, saying: "Rylan has earned this opportunity through results.
"We're investing in the future here. Brodie gives us proven championship-winning pace and pedigree, and Rylan represents our commitment to developing the next generation.
"This combination positions us perfectly for both immediate competitiveness and long-term success. We're not in the business of coming second – we're building a lineup that can win in 2026 and in the years to come.”
Gray becomes the third confirmed driver to graduate from Super2 in 2026, following Jackson Walls (SCT Motorsport/Triple Eight) and Jobe Stewart (Erebus Motorsport).
Kostecki and Davison will resume their 2025 campaigns at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on November 14-16.
