Engine change for Ryan Wood Supra after DNF
Precautionary change on the #2 Mobil 1 Truck Assist Toyota
Wood clashed with Declan Fraser in opening laps
Walkinshaw TWG Racing is conducting a mid-event engine change on Ryan Wood's Toyota Supra.
Wood retired from Saturday’s betr Darwin Triple Crown race with a power steering issue, following contact with PremiAir Racing rival Declan Fraser.
The #2 Mobil 1 Truck Assist Supra ran off the road at Turn 1 and onto the grass, with Wood safely returning the Supra to the garage, but dropping fluid on the circuit as he went.
Teammate Chaz Mostert was caught out by the fluid on the very next lap, as he speared off the road at Turn 5, having not been warned of the fluid on line.
A team spokesperson confirmed to Supercars.com that the engine change is precautionary.
Wood, who dropped from seventh to eighth in the standings with the DNF, was also apologetic for the incident catching out Mostert.
The reigning champion slipped back to 14th after his off, but recovered to sixth by the finish in a brilliant recovery drive.
"It's just frustrating but it is what it is," Wood said.
"Story of our day today, seems like Mozzie's ending up slipping on all our stuff. Sorry to that side and sorry to our team, it's real gutting."
The final day of the betr Darwin Triple Crown begins with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:45am local time/11:15am AEST.
