Walkinshaw TWG on the brink of joining Triple Eight on 200 wins
Toyota homologation team starts Darwin weekend on 198 race wins
Triple Eight hit 200 wins back in 2020, currently has 282 wins
Another weekend of surprises could propel Walkinshaw TWG Racing alongside arch-rival Triple Eight Race Engineering into rare Supercars air.
The now Toyota homologation team scored its second win with its new Supra with reigning champion Chaz Mostert in Tasmania, in what was the team's 198th championship race win.
Given three wins are on offer at this weekend's betr Darwin Triple Crown, WTWGR has its first shot at joining the 200 club, which at current, is a party of one.
At The Bend in 2018, Triple Eight overtook WTWGR (then under the Walkinshaw Andretti United banner) to become the winningest team in ATCC/Supercars Championship history.
Since that win, Triple Eight has added 101 more wins, to WTWGR's 18. Triple Eight hit the 200 wins milestone at Townsville in 2020.
Between 1990 and 2026, WTWGR has won for three marques: Holden (188 wins), Ford (eight) and Toyota (two).
Triple Eight and WTWGR are streets ahead of next best Dick Johnson Racing, which is the only other team with more than 100 race wins. DJR started the year on 151 wins, with Brodie Kostecki already adding five more this season.
Winless since Sydney last year, Tickford Racing has been stranded on 90 wins for 47 races.
WTWGR began life with a strong record at Hidden Valley Raceway, winning 15 of the first 32 races at the circuit between 1998 and 2008. However, it has only won two of the last 46, courtesy of Mostert in 2021 and 2022.
Races will be held on all three days of the June 19-21 event.
