Supercars’ marquee event for 2021, the Repco Bathurst 1000, has a new date amid a revised calendar.
It was confirmed Friday that the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship season will resume at Winton in October.
The revised calendar has been made in consultation with key stakeholders, including broadcast partners and team owners, in response to ongoing COVID challenges in various states.
The Bathurst weekend, initially slated for October 7-10, will now be held across November 4-7.
Tickets purchased for the original Bathurst date will be valid for the rescheduled event. Existing ticket holders will be contacted with further details.
The Dunlop Super2 Series will also feature at Mount Panorama, which will host its first Supercars event in November since 2000.
Supercars CEO Sean Seamer reiterated that the decision to move the Bathurst event was an effort to "bring back as many fans as possible" to the Great Race.
"With the ever-changing COVID landscape, our teams and broadcast partners have agreed it is in all our stakeholders' best interests commercially and competitively to move our premier event to a later date," Seamer said.
"We are continuing to work closely with NSW Health, the Bathurst Regional City Council, emergency services, broadcasters and the NSW Government on planning for the Repco Bathurst 1000, which is the pinnacle of Australian motorsport.
"We will meet all COVID-19 safety requirements necessary to ensure this year’s Great Race goes ahead. Our aim is to ensure we can bring back as many fans as possible."
The season will resume with the eighth round of 2021 at Winton in early October. Ticketing information will be available soon.
