Students on Track
The 2020 Students on Track program is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak and will not run at any events in the 2020 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship calendar. Supercars hopes to offer this program to schools once again in 2021.
The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is widely regarded as one of the best and most entertaining motorsport categories in the world and schools have the opportunity to be a part of the action through the 2020 Students on Track program.
A visit to a round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship provides fantastic opportunities for students to engage with and get excited about STEM education, in an environment where they can see, hear and smell STEM in action.
Children can make meaningful connections between the Australian Curriculum and the action on track, with the program allowing teachers and students to spend the day trackside and learn about one of Australia’s top sports up close. The Students on Track program includes free access to the circuit and the Supercars Paddock* where students can witness the action of the team garages.
Unlike any other sport, students will be close enough to watch the drivers, engineers and team owners run through their paces and get the cars ready for racing.
Supercars provide student workbooks, matched to the school curriculum, which show how classroom learnings translate to life on the race track to really get the most out of the excursion. The workbooks are created specifically for primary and secondary schools to ensure Supercars is catering to all levels of education.
Then, there is the chance to participate in the Junior Press conference where students can pretend to be budding journalists and interview a number of the top drivers about any aspect of their driving lives.
Don’t miss the chance for your school to look under the bonnet of one of Australia’s favourite and longest running sports.
Best of all, this high octane lesson is absolutely FREE!
