Triple Eight to shake down new Camaros this week
Team will shakedown new #87 and #88 Chevrolets on Thursday
Teams will test on Monday and Wednesday next week
Triple Eight Race Engineering is set to shakedown its new-for-2024 Chevrolet Camaro Supercars this week ahead of pre-season testing.
Triple Eight has built two new Camaros for Broc Feeney and recruit Will Brown, who has joined from Erebus Motorsport.
It was announced Monday that Brown will race with the #87 in 2024, with the team opting for a new number following the departure of Shane van Gisbergen, who raced with his trademark #97.
The team’s #87 and #88 Camaros will hit the track for a shakedown at Queensland Raceway on Thursday February 1.
The team had initially scheduled the shakedown for Tuesday January 30, but has moved it to Thursday amid the threat of inclement weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting up to 70mm of rain around the Ipswich area on Tuesday.
Thursday will mark Brown’s first laps in a Triple Eight Gen3 Supercar, having tested the team’s Mercedes-AMG he will share with Feeney at next month’s Repco Bathurst 12 Hour.
Triple Eight is one of two teams, along with Chevrolet rivals Erebus Motorsport, to have built brand-new cars for 2024.
Race fans will be able to see their favourite drivers in action at pre-season testing next week.
Queensland-based teams will test at Queensland Raceway on Monday February 5, while southern-based teams will hit the track at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday February 7. Both test days will be open to the public.
The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 on February 23-25. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
