Mustangs have dominated 2026 so far, with Ford on a hot streak of five consecutive wins.
Fords have won the last five races in a row this season, and now head to New Zealand shooting for six and beyond.
Such runs of dominance aren’t common for the Blue Oval, with General Motors — once Holden, now Chevrolet — laying down some historic runs.
Triple Eight’s move to Mustangs has tipped numbers in Ford’s favour in 2026, with Broc Feeney and Brodie Kostecki winning three races apiece through two rounds.
The current run of five is Ford’s best since its won six in a row in the debut year of the Gen2 Mustang.However, Ford has a long way to go if it’s to not only break through outright record, but also set a new benchmark for itself.
Ford only has two 10-plus race winning streaks in Supercars — it won 12 straight in 1993, and a Ford-record 15 straight across the 1988 and 1989 seasons.
The overall record is a staggering 25 straight wins for Holden across the 1998 and 1999 seasons, while Commodores also won 17 straight in 2002.
There have been three 15-race streaks — Ford in 1988/89, Holden in 1999/2000, and Chevrolet in the first half of the 2023 season.
If Ford is to displace Holden's all-time record, it would need to remain undefeated until Ipswich in August. GM and Toyota teams will want nothing of the sort, and will stop at nothing to stop the streak.
Drivers will fight for three wins at the ITM Taupō Super 440 on April 10-12.
