Broc Feeney dropped out of points lead after last-start DNF
Feeney won three of first six races of 2026 before crash
Triple Eight star winless in eight previous NZ Supercars races
Learning more from his new Ford and returning to the top are Broc Feeney’s key focus points for the resumption of the 2026 season.
After a five-week break, Supercars will roar back to life in New Zealand, with six races to be held over two blockbuster weekends of racing.
A dramatic crash in the Melbourne finale dropped Feeney out of the championship lead, just a day after he took it back from Matt Payne.
Melbourne was a weekend to remember for Brodie Kostecki and Dick Johnson Racing, through, while Tickford Racing and Penrite Racing are also ahead of Triple Eight on teams’ points.
After three years of domination in Gen3 Camaros, Mustangs have so far proven tougher to handle for Feeney. Regardless, when the time comes at Taupō, he doesn’t just want to be fighting at the front for one race — he wants to be in the discussion for all of them.
"I'm just looking forward to trying to get back to the front to be honest,” Feeney told Supercars.com.
“We obviously had a fantastic round at Sydney and we were extremely competitive. We just weren't at our best at the Grand Prix. That's something that we're trying to learn about this new car.
"Hopefully in Taupō we can get our foot back on the gas and be fighting for wins in all three races, not just one of them.
“Obviously a couple of teams have had some good runs to start the year, but we still led the championship into the last race.
“We had a DNF, but there's no better way to bounce back than go and get a couple of wins in NZ.”
Such was the workload, that Triple Eight staff were given time to catch their breath before Easter, which precedes two big weeks across the Tasman.
“It was a hectic period after the Grand Prix. We had to fix my car,” Feeney said.
"We had about four, five days to get it rebuilt and ready to go in the container. It was a hectic week or eight days after the Grand Prix.
“After that, we've given some of the guys a bit of time off, which is well deserved. We had a very hectic end to last year, let alone the start of this year, building three new cars.
"For some of the guys to take some time off has been well deserved. We're all fired up, obviously it gives our engineers lots of time to prepare for the double header.”
Track action in Taupō commences on Friday April 10.
