Tickford Racing poised to debut new Mustang for Cam Waters
Ford team set to bring new Gen3 chassis online in Tasmania
Tickford Engineering recently engaged by three F1 teams
Tickford Racing is planning to debut a new Gen3 Mustang for Cam Waters, amid the Ford team’s growing stature as an engineering powerhouse.
Tickford has spent the weeks since the Melbourne SuperSprint fast-tracking a new Supercar for Waters, who sits second in points after Round 2.
Chassis TR-33 is on track to debut in coming rounds at the hands of Waters, with Tickford eyeing Round 5 in Tasmania.
Waters was moved into chassis TR-28 for the opening rounds of 2026 following the end-of-year handover of his existing car, TR-30, which had been pre-sold to Scott Taylor. Waters won the first ever Gen3 race in TR-28 back in 2023, before moving into TR-30 early in 2024.
TR-33 will hence become the third new car for Waters in the Gen3 era, with teammate Thomas Randle also set to receive a new car later this season.

The likes of Triple Eight Race Engineering, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Dick Johnson Racing and SCT Motorsport all debuted new cars in Sydney. Tickford, along with Penrite Racing and Erebus Motorsport, had committed to bringing new cars online during the season.
“We’re currently building a brand new chassis for Cam, hoping to debut that in Tassie,” Tickford Racing Team Manager Matt Roberts told Supercars.com.
“Since the Grand Prix, we’ve had a really good workshop clean and we've been prepping for the new car, which the guys have started assembling.
“The chassis came back from the paint shop yesterday and the guys are having a good crack at building it in the time that we've got over the next couple of weeks before Easter."
The latest chassis works continue a busy time for Tickford’s engineering business, which was tasked with works for three Formula 1 teams earlier this month.
Tickford Engineering was engaged by Red Bull Racing, Williams Racing and the new Cadillac team across the Grand Prix period. It complements Tickford’s on-track strength in 2026, with Waters second in points, and Tickford leading the teams’ championship.
“It's going from strength to strength,” Roberts said of Tickford’s engineering arm.
“It really showcases what we can do. We did some machining for Red Bull Racing, and some composite work for Cadillac and Williams.
"Beyond racing, we’ve had varying deployment of different areas of the business, which is good.
“We're probably going to build a couple of more in-house chassis this year and we’ll hopefully look to supplying them within the field.”
