Erebus Motorsport announce tweaked engineering lineup for 2026
New recruit Daniel Frencham to engineer rookie Jobe Stewart
Wayne Mackie continues with Cooper Murray after nearly claiming Bathurst victory
Erebus Motorsport have announced changes to their engineering lineup for the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.
Wayne Mackie remains as Cooper Murray's race engineer on the #99 Camaro into the new season, whilst rookie Jobe Stewart welcomes Daniel Frencham as a new race engineer in the Erebus lineup.
It continues an off season of change for the two-time Bathurst 1000 winners, who have also announced several off-track appointments, promoted Academy talent Stewart to a full-time drive, and signed Super2 standout Lochie Dalton to their enduro lineup.
Frencham joined the team from Garry Rogers Motorsport's Trans Am Series operation as a data engineer late last season, and replaces Aidan Graham, who returns to data engineer duties on the #9 after performing race engineer duties in the final two rounds of 2025.
It's a move that further frees up Barry Ryan to focus on his duties as CEO, having served as race engineer for Jack Le Brocq for the first 11 events of 2025.
“The key is having an engineering group that’s focused on team results first,” said Ryan.
“Yes, race engineers are allocated to cars, but success comes from the whole group working together and pushing in the same direction.
“Daniel came recommended by Barry Rogers, and that matters. Just as importantly, we’re committed to backing our own people.
"Aidan's rounds at the end of 2025 engineering the #9 car have set him up extremely well, and he’s now in a position to contribute strongly to the group. Creating pathways and supporting that progression is a big part of how we operate.”
Stewart added: “I like that Erebus doesn’t do things the obvious way."
“Daniel’s come from a strong program and a great team. He’s been great to work with already and for me as a rookie, having that level of support and trust around you makes a big difference.”
Mackie, meanwhile, will also oversee the entire engineering group at Erebus, whilst Murray is eager to continue the relationship that almost netted a stunning Bathurst win last year.
“Wayne’s been a big part of my development from the early days as he has been with Jobe,” Murray said.
“Erebus gives people opportunities, backs them, and expects you to grow. It’s why this team works, and why it’s had the success it has. Hopefully we can keep building on that in 2026.”
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins at the Sydney 500 from February 20-22. Tickets for the event, including free entry for the first race of the season on Friday, February 20, are on sale now.
