Hughes reunited with former Super2 teammate Jobe Stewart
Jarrod Hughes is looking to convert a strong season over into the Ryco Enduro Cup, as Erebus Motorsport primes itself for another ambush on the biggest races of the year.
Hughes has enjoyed something of a breakout year in 2026, going toe-to-toe with Todd Hazelwood in the Trans Am Series that has been the domain of the 2024 Bathurst winner in recent seasons.
The bubbly Queenslander also claimed a long-awaited GT4 victory earlier in the season, driving a McLaren for Chaz Mostert's Method Motorsport outfit.
It's been a strong bounceback from an arduous Super2 campaign in 2025, of which the lowlight was a brutal crash at Queensland Raceway that left him with a dislocated shoulder.
Now, Hughes will reunite with Jobe Stewart, and having got through his maiden enduro campaign in 2025 with a clean pair of heels, is looking to go to the next level across the next two weeks.
"The good results we've been having in Trans Am & GT4 give me a big confidence boost moving into the enduro season," Hughes said.
"There's a lot less nerves this year than there was last year. I have one Bathurst 1000 under my belt, so I know what I have to do, I just need to execute.
"I know I can do it, but going in with proven results certainly adds some strength to the whole program. I'm very excited to get it all underway."
Stewart and Hughes were teammates in Super2 between 2024 and 2025, both bursting onto the scene with strong campaigns two years ago. Hughes beat his highly rated teammate to rookie of the year honours.
While Stewart then stole all the headlines with his incredible Supercars debut in last year's enduros, Hughes quietly plied his trade in the sister #9 entry, with finishes of 12th at The Bend and 14th at Bathurst.
While 21-year-old Hughes remains in the #9, he now reunites with 22-year-old Stewart, forming one of the youngest driver line-ups on the grid, but also one with plenty of potential.
“Jobe and I have worked together for 2 years already, through our Super2 program with Erebus Academy," Hughes said.
"We always push each other to be better, and we work well together.”
The pair's first test will come in Stewart's home state of South Australia, with on track action at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend beginning on Friday.
