Triple Eight shoots up PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge ladder
2024 winners, ninth after Sydney, now third behind BRT, BJR

Reigning champions Triple Eight Race Engineering have laid down the gauntlet in their quest to become back-to-back winners of the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge.
Triple Eight was ninth after Sydney, and fifth after New Zealand. After a brilliant weekend on-track in Tasmania, headlined by wins for Broc Feeney, the team also excelled in the lane.
The Triple Eight crew took home maximum points with a fast stop on Will Brown's car in Race 12, which was won by Feeney. Feeney also won Race 11, with the Shell V-Power Racing Team quickest in the lane on Will Davison's car.
Brad Jones Racing and Blanchard Racing Team were second and third in Race 11, and despite being fifth and eighth in Race 12, consolidated first and second in the standings.
However, Triple Eight is now just nine points behind leaders BRT, with BJR just two points down.
The first race of the season in Sydney also doubled as the first race of this year's PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge, with BJR's #96/#12 crew emerging just ahead of BRT.
Introduced in 2017 to recognise the efforts of the category's hard working pit crews, the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge awards $20,000 and the coveted 'Golden Rattle Gun Trophy' to the winner.
In 2025, points are earned on a descending scale per race, with the quickest pit stop earning 13 points, second quickest earning 12 points and so on, with the slowest time earning 1 point.
If a driver or team incurs a penalty in completing the Compulsory Pit Stop(s), the car will be disqualified, resulting in no points for that race.
The pit stop time used in calculating points is the duration between crossing the pit entry line and pit exit line, as recorded by Supercars Timing. This pit stop time is final.
After Tasmania, the Pit Stop Challenge will be contested at Perth, Darwin, Townsville and Ipswich, setting the semi-final field for the Live Finals.
At the completion of the Preliminary Races segment, the top three teams will win $5500, $3500 and $2000. The winner of the Live Final will be awarded $20,000 and the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun.
Tickets for the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 are on sale now.
