BRT consolidates PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge lead in Perth
Blanchard team scored first Supercars podium in Perth finale
Triple Eight, BRT paced Saturday pit stops in 120km races
Blanchard Racing Team has consolidated its lead in the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge on a breakout weekend for the Ford team in Perth.
BRT scored its maiden Supercars podium in the finale, courtesy of a bold strategy call that vaulted James Courtney to third in Race 16.
It was the team's performance in the Saturday sprints that also kept it atop the Pit Stop Challenge standings, albeit by just two points over Brad Jones Racing.
Reigning champions Triple Eight set the fastest time in the lane in the first race on Broc Feeney's car, with BRT fastest in the second race on Courtney's car.
Matt Stone Racing stepped up, setting the third fastest time in the first race, and the second fastest in the second race, courtesy of fast stops for Cameron Hill.
BJR set the second fastest time on Macauley Jones' car in the first race, with its lead crew second fastest on Andre Heimgartner's car in the second.
The top three of BRT, BJR and Triple Eight remained the same, with MSR moving from sixth to fourth. Dick Johnson Racing made the biggest leap, jumping off the bottom to ninth. It relegated Tickford Racing to last, with Walkinshaw Andretti United dropping from fourth to seventh.
Introduced in 2017 to recognise the efforts of the category's hard working pit crews, the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge awards $20,000 and the coveted 'Golden Rattle Gun Trophy' to the winner.
In 2025, points are earned on a descending scale per race, with the quickest pit stop earning 13 points, second quickest earning 12 points and so on, with the slowest time earning 1 point.
If a driver or team incurs a penalty in completing the Compulsory Pit Stop(s), the car will be disqualified, resulting in no points for that race.
The pit stop time used in calculating points is the duration between crossing the pit entry line and pit exit line, as recorded by Supercars Timing. This pit stop time is final.
After Perth, the Pit Stop Challenge will be contested at Darwin, Townsville and Ipswich, setting the semi-final field for the Live Finals.
At the completion of the Preliminary Races segment, the top three teams will win $5500, $3500 and $2000. The winner of the Live Final will be awarded $20,000 and the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun.
Tickets for the betr Darwin Triple Crown on June 20-22 are on sale now.
