Reigning PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge champions Triple Eight Race Engineering have taken over at the top after a dominant weekend on track and in the lane in Darwin.

Triple Eight set the fastest time in the first Darwin sprint courtesy of a fast stop on Will Brown's car, before Matt Stone Racing paced the second race with a quick stop for Nick Percat.

With the third and fastest stops, MSR retained fourth, but is just two points behind new leaders Triple Eight.

Erstwhile leaders Blanchard Racing Team dropped to second, albeit one point behind Triple Eight and level with the Brad Jones Racing crew for Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood.

BRT was fifth and seventh fastest in the Saturday stops, while the biggest mover was Penrite Racing, which backed up its race pace with a jump from 10th to eighth.

Tickford Racing, which tripped up on Sunday with a costly stop for Cam Waters, remains last behind Dick Johnson Racing and Team 18.

Introduced in 2017 to recognise the efforts of the category's hard working pit crews, the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge awards $20,000 and the coveted 'Golden Rattle Gun Trophy' to the winner.

In 2025, points are earned on a descending scale per race, with the quickest pit stop earning 13 points, second quickest earning 12 points and so on, with the slowest time earning 1 point.

If a driver or team incurs a penalty in completing the Compulsory Pit Stop(s), the car will be disqualified, resulting in no points for that race.

The pit stop time used in calculating points is the duration between crossing the pit entry line and pit exit line, as recorded by Supercars Timing. This pit stop time is final.

After Darwin, the Pit Stop Challenge will be contested at Townsville and Ipswich, setting the semi-final field for the Live Finals.

At the completion of the Preliminary Races segment, the top three teams will win $5500, $3500 and $2000. The winner of the Live Final will be awarded $20,000 and the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun.
