Gen3 Supercar to feature '80 per cent' of road car styling DNA
"Nearly 80 per cent" of road car styling DNA has been applied to the bodywork design of the Gen3 Supercar.
The latest episode of the Mark Larkham-hosted Gen3 Unpacked series, brought to you by The Garage, delves into manufacturer relevance.
The Gen3 project, which is set for a 2023 debut, will feature race cars more alike to their road-going counterparts.
Ford teams will continue to race Mustangs, while General Motors teams will campaign a car based off the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

According to Ford homologation team Dick Johnson Racing chief engineer Perry Kapper, Gen3 cars will feature a greater resemblance to road-going cars.
"We're using nearly 80 per cent of the road car surface in our bodywork design," Kapper said.
"You'll be able to sit the cars side-by-side with their road-going counterpart and it'll look like a neat, aggressive version of the road car."
The new aggressive styling of Gen3 cars has recently passed aerodynamic tests with flying colours.
Much aero testing has been completed, with specific corner simulations proving Gen3 cars will be able to race closer together.
GM homologation team Triple Eight Race Engineering technical director Jeromy Moore reiterated Kapper's stance from a GM perspective.
"They've put so much emphasis on this car from the GM side of things, because it's got almost the most road car DNA out of any racing car they've produced," Moore added."
"NASCAR has to confirm to a stock body, but for us, we've got a clean slate, basically.
"We've got to make the car as good as it can be, like the road car but on steroids. I think we've achieved that."
