Erebus Motorsport is set to debut to a new chassis for Cooper Murray as the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship resumes in Australia.

The 2023 champion team will shake down the new car, named EM09, at Winton Motor Raceway on Friday May 15.

It’s the second new car slated for a debut at Symmons Plains, alongside Tickford Racing’s new Ford Mustang for Cam Waters.

EM09, built by Mount Gambier-based Erebus fabricator James White, is the first new chassis built for, and to be raced by Erebus since the start of 2024.

Erebus briefly ran a customer chassis program, building centre cells for the likes of Dick Johnson Racing and Blanchard Racing Team, before returning focus to its own operations from 2026.

Notably, 2023 champion Brodie Kostecki has raced an Erebus-built chassis to five victories already in 2026.

Erebus has cycled through a number of chassis since the team retired Kostecki’s 2023 championship-winning Camaro. EM07 and EM08 were built new for the 2024 season, with EM-07 raced to victory at Mount Panorama and Surfers Paradise by Kostecki before he joined DJR and Ford in 2025.

Rookie Jobe Stewart started 2026 in EM-07. Murray commenced 2025 in EM-07, before being shifted into the team’s spare chassis — previously raced by Will Brown and rebuilt following his 2023 Adelaide crash — for the latter half of 2025, and start of 2026.

Jack Le Brocq contested the 2024 and 2025 seasons in EM-08, which was parked for 2026.

Stewart will move into Murray's previous chassis, EM06, while EM07 chassis has been retired.

"The crew have done a fantastic job putting this new car together between New Zealand and Tasmania," Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said.

"All of our cars are built to the same standard, but I know having a fresh chassis can help instil more confidence in a driver, and we're hoping to see that carry into Tasmania."

Murray added: "It's exciting when you get a fresh car, everything is shiny and new.

"The 60km shakedown will be good to debut it on track and make sure it's ready for Tassie the following week.

"The team worked really hard putting this car together and hopefully we can build on our more positive Christchurch results heading into Tassie."
