Erebus Motorsport has completed a successful shakedown of a brand new Chevrolet Camaro at Winton Motor Raceway.

The brand new chassis, designated EM09, ran its allotted 60km run in damp conditions at the rural Victorian venue with second-year driver Cooper Murray, who has been entrusted with the new build.

The new chassis replaces the car that won the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000 with Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood, which has now been retired from active duty.

Erebus had initially planned to shakedown EM09 on Friday alongside Tickford's first in-house Gen3 chassis, built for Cam Waters, but elected to push back their shakedown to have the venue all to themselves.

"Not quite a sunny day out here at Winton, but we got the laps done we needed, and the car ran faultlessly. We're really happy with it," said CEO Barry Ryan in an Erebus video.

Murray added: "Like Baz said, EM09 ran faultlessly.

"I can't say a massive thank you enough to all the crew that worked hard. All the late nights, and all the weekends to get this done, to see it out on track and not one problem at all.

"It was amazing, and I'm really looking forward to Tassie this weekend, and rewarding all their progress and hard work."

The Erebus and Tickford cars take the new chassis count to 10 for 2026, with new cars rolling out in Sydney for Triple Eight Race Engineering, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Dick Johnson Racing, Brad Jones Racing and SCT Motorsport.

It means seven of 12 teams on the grid have now debuted new machinery in 2026.

Murray and Erebus will be hoping the new car can inspire a turnaround of form from what has been a difficult start to 2026, with Murray 22nd, and rookie teammate Jobe Stewart 24th in the points standings through four rounds.

Murray recorded his first top 10 finish of the season last time out in Christchurch, and also secured a top 10 qualifying result for last year's final race in Tasmania.

EM09 will turn its first competitive laps on Friday in the opening practice session of the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440.

Tickets for the May 22-24 event are on sale now.
