Will Brown makes emphatic statement over new Triple Eight deal
Brown insists there was “no question mark” over his new extension
Reigning champion committed to Triple Eight until at least 2029
Will Brown insists there was “no question mark” over his decision to stay with Triple Eight on a new contract extension.
Confirmed Wednesday, Brown and Broc Feeney will race for Triple Eight until at least the end of 2029, the duo inking three-deal extensions.
In a major win for the Ford-bound team, Brown and Feeney will continue on beyond 2026, well into Triple Eight’s return era with the Blue Oval.
Crucially, it comes after Brown’s future was subject to speculation in recent weeks.
Triple Eight’s Ford deal was announced in late January, with General Motors bosses later announcing their plan to sign a star driver back in March.
At that point, while Brown and Feeney were tied down until at least the end of 2026, talk over Brown’s future resurfaced in Townsville.
In Wednesday’s release, Brown firmly shut the door, saying he had no questions over staying in Red Bull Ampol colours.
"It's cool to re-sign, obviously it's fairly early, I had another year on my contract,” Brown said.
"I think it's cool after winning the championship last year that the team has come to us and wanted to re-sign us sooner than later to lock us down.
“For me there wasn't a question mark, no question mark about the team in any way, I'm very happy here, the team does such a fantastic job.
"So to re-sign with this team is amazing and this soon makes it even better. Looking forward to having my future sewn up and just concentrating on the racing.”
Brown will race a Ford for the first time in Supercars next year, and the Queenslander is keen to continue on with Feeney — something which swayed team boss Jamie Whincup.
“Obviously, you have Broc going pretty well, I was really happy to hear that both Broc and I signed on together,” Brown added.
"For me it's about having a competitive teammate, which I absolutely do have this year that's for sure."
