Where 2027 Supercars grid stands after GM bombshell

General Motors' mid-season driver switch has changed the face of the 2027 Repco Supercars Championship grid.

Cooper Murray is now one of nine drivers formally locked in through 2028, and one of 17 through 2027.

An unusual mid-year switch has seen Murray shift from Erebus Motorsport to PremiAir Racing at the expense of the outgoing Declan Fraser.

Key to PremiAir Racing's announcement was confirmation that Murray will race for the team in 2027 and 2028, forming a new-look line-up with Jayden Ojeda.

Jarrod Hughes has signed on for the last three rounds with Erebus, but no plans have been announced for 2027. At current, Jobe Stewart is contracted through 2028.

The 2027 grid, so far

Six teams — Grove Racing, Triple Eight, Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Blanchard Racing Team and PremiAir Racing — now have complete line-ups for the 2027 season.

Stewart, Dick Johnson Racing's Brodie Kostecki (2030), Blanchard Racing Team's James Golding (2027), Brad Jones Racing's Andre Heimgartner and Cameron Hill (2027), and SCT Motorsport's Jackson Walls (2027) are also contracted beyond 2026. Aaron Cameron has also earned an extension with BRT, confirmed Thursday.

That leaves unconfirmed seats at DJR, BJR, Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing.

Matt Stone recently indicated he wants an unchanged line-up at his team in 2027, suggesting breakout Bathurst star Zach Bates and Jack Le Brocq, who clinched his Finals berth, will race on with the Yatala team.

DJR rookie Rylan Gray has improved in recent rounds, while Macauley Jones is likely to continue with BJR.

That leaves GM homologation outfit Team 18, which is regrouping after its chastening Bathurst defeat. Anton De Pasquale is all but certain to remain in 2027, while there's no news about where David Reynolds, who has become a year-by-year proposition, stands.
