Declan Fraser out, Cooper Murray signs on in PremiAir shock
Fraser departs Chevrolet team after Sunday's Bathurst 1000
Murray shifts from Erebus Motorsport, Jarrod Hughes called up
PremiAir Racing has officially parted ways with Declan Fraser, with Cooper Murray joining the Peter Xiberras-owned squad effective immediately.
Murray, meanwhile, will be replaced at Erebus Motorsport by rising star Jarrod Hughes, who will make his solo Supercars debut on home soil at Surfers Paradise.
Fraser, the 2022 Super2 champion, returned to Supercars full-time in 2026 alongside rookie Jayden Ojeda in an all-new driver line-up for PremiAir. Ojeda has had Fraser’s measure in 2026, comfortably leading the qualifying and race head-to-heads.
Fraser only had a single season in the main game — with Tickford Racing in 2023 — under his belt before returning in 2026, having partnered Andre Heimgartner in the 2024 and 2025 enduros.
In a combined General Motors announcement on Tuesday, it was announced Fraser won’t return for the final three rounds, with Murray and Hughes shuffling around.
GM stated that the move was made with both Murray and Hughes' development in mind, whilst also serving to "strengthen the GM driver pathway".
It continues a line of mid-season changes by PremiAir Racing, which is now led by ex-Triple Eight supremo Roland Dane.
Garry Jacobson was axed midway through 2022 in favour of James Golding, while Tim Slade (2024) and Richie Stanaway (2025) retired and departed respectively, the latter making way for Ojeda after last year's Gold Coast 500. Chris Pither also completed a single season before making way for Slade in 2023.
Fraser’s last start with PremiAir was 18th in Sunday’s Bathurst 1000, with co-driver Nash Morris spun on lap 1.
Murray, meanwhile, raced to sixth in Sunday's Great Race with Super2 Series leader Lochie Dalton, who himself is targeting a 2027 Supercars drive.
Track action at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 commences on Friday October 23.
