Cooper Murray joins PremiAir Racing after Bathurst

Erebus calls up Jarrod Hughes to replace Murray
"Strengthening the GM driver pathway" is behind mid-season changes Erebus Motorsport and PremiAir Racing, says General Motors.
Jarrod Hughes, meanwhile, will move into the #99 Erebus Camaro for the remainder of the season.
Murray has been in the GM family in Supercars since 2024, when he raced a Triple Eight wildcard before signing on with Erebus to replace Dick Johnson Racing-bound Brodie Kostecki.
Hughes, 21, has long been part of both the GM family and the Erebus Academy, and steps up after two enduro campaigns with the Betty Klimenko-owned team.
"Jarrod has shown us enough throughout his time with Erebus to know there is something there worth investing in,” Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan said.
"This is about giving him the chance to experience Supercars, learn the car and see how he handles the step up, but we’re also looking at Jarrod as a longer-term prospect for Erebus.
"He’s worked hard to get to this point and we’re excited to see what he can do with the opportunity.
"For Cooper, the move to PremiAir gives him another opportunity to gain experience and continue developing as a driver. We’re confident both guys will benefit from the changes."
It's the latest in a line of driver changes by PremiAir Racing, which is now led by former Triple Eight boss Roland Dane.
Garry Jacobson was replaced by James Golding in mid-2022, before Richie Stanaway was replaced by Jayden Ojeda with two rounds left in 2025. Ojeda and Fraser formed an all-new line-up in 2026, but the former has been by far and away the standout.
In the statement, GM Motorsports Supercars Racing Program Manager Simon McNamara said the manufacturer was pleased to support the changes and the continued development of both drivers.
"The changes reflect the positive and practical approach shared by all three organisations," McNamara said.
"Erebus Motorsport’s commitment to fostering future talent, PremiAir Racing’s support for driver development and GM Motorsports’ investment in the careers of emerging drivers have created an environment where opportunities can be aligned to help each driver progress."
Track action at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 commences on Friday October 23.
