Supercars has confirmed a renewed partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which will see the Volkswagen Amarok Style V6 return as the Official Recovery Vehicle of the Repco Supercars Championship for the 2026 season.
The Amarok will continue its critical role trackside, supporting recovery operations at Supercars events throughout the year.
Known for its power, capability and durability, the Amarok has become a trusted asset for Supercars officials in the sport’s demanding and time critical environments.
The renewed agreement strengthens Supercars’ longstanding involvement with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and ensures the recovery fleet remains equipped with vehicles capable of meeting the extreme conditions of modern Supercars events.
Built to take on the toughest assignments in Australian motorsport, the Amarok’s specifications make it uniquely suited to the rapidresponse requirements of race recovery, including:
3.0litre V6 turbodiesel engine producing 600Nm of torque, providing the strength needed to retrieve Supercars weighing over a tonne.
3.5 tonne braked towing capacity, supporting both recovery scenarios and event logistics
Fulltime 4MOTION with 4A, delivering permanent allwheel drive stability across gravel, grass, sand and wet asphalt.
Six dedicated drive modes, enabling custom performance from deep sand extractions to lowspeed manoeuvres beside the circuit.
Premium leather interior and ergonomic seating, giving recovery crews a comfortable, functional workspace during long race weekends.

“Tough feels better in an Amarok and nowhere is that more evident than trackside at Supercars events,” said Nathan Johnson, Brand Director Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Australia.
“The Volkswagen Amarok has already shown it can reliably pull 1,350 kg Supercars out of gravel traps, navigate sand, mud and uneven terrain, and get recovery crews where they need to be, fast. We’re proud to continue providing a vehicle trusted by professionals at the highest level of motorsport.”
Supercars Head of Commercial Craig Dontas said the continued partnership reflects Volkswagen’s proven performance in one of the most critical operational roles in the sport.
“The Volkswagen Amarok has been an outstanding asset to our recovery operations,” Dontas said.
“Its power, capability and reliability have consistently delivered in highpressure situations, and our officials trust it to perform when it matters most. We’re thrilled to welcome Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles back for the 2026 season.”
Having already proven its dependability across multiple seasons, the Volkswagen Amarok will again be a prominent presence behind barriers, at gravel traps and in pit lane throughout 2026—ready to respond whenever the action heats up.
Fresh off its season opener in Sydney, the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship continues next weekend at the Melbourne SuperSprint, taking place March 5-8 in support of the Formula One Australian Grand Prix.
