General Motors have won 64 of 98 races at Symmons Plains
Holdens won 13 straight races in Tasmania between 2012 and 2017
Chevrolet have had the measure of Ford in the Gen3 era
Symmons Plains has proven to be a General Motors stomping ground across its long history as an Australian Touring Car/Supercars Championship venue.
Of the 98 championship races held at Symmons Plains since 1969, General Motors have won 64 of them, or 65% of all races held at the bullring.
58 of those wins came from Holden products, including seven race win streaks from 1995 to 1997, and 2019 and 2021-22, however that pales in comparison with a 13-race winning run from 2012-2017, with the VF Commodore dominating from 2013 onwards.
Holden's winning run dated right back to that initial race in 1969, when Norm Beechey won in a Holden Monaro.
Ford sit comfortably second on 29 wins, though given the form of the Blue Oval in 2026, that tally is likely to grow next weekend.
However, Chevrolet have had the measure of Ford in the Gen3 era, winning six of the eight races held in Tasmania since the regulation change.
Ford's two wins in that time came courtesy of Cam Waters in 2024 and Matt Payne last year, though only by 0.055s from a flying Broc Feeney after an inspired strategy play.
Triple Eight have been the kings of Symmons Plains, especially following their first manufacturer switch to GM in 2010, winning 23 of the 37 races (62%) held in the time since.
However, their switch back to Ford has brought an immediate upswing for the Blue Oval, who have won all bar two of the 13 races held in the season to date, led by Dick Johnson Racing's Brodie Kostecki on five wins.
An eclectic group of makes round out the manufacturers' winners list, with Volvo and Nissan having each claimed two wins in the Group A era, whist Porsche claimed a sole win in 1970 courtesy of Jim McKeown's 911.
