Cam Waters on top at halfway mark of final DNSW Sydney Test Day session
Tickford teammate Thomas Randle right behind in second
Session uninterrupted following Turn 8 track inspection
Tickford Racing currently lock out the top two in Session 2 of the Destination NSW Sydney Test Day, with Cam Waters resuming his form from 12 months ago.
The #6 Monster Mustang completed a sweep of all three race wins, pole positions, and fastest laps, and currently paces the field at the halfway mark of the final session, with teammate Thomas Randle right behind in second.
Following a 10-minute track inspection, cars rolled back out onto Sydney Motorsport Park, with the full Gardner Circuit layout still in use and 40 minutes of the four hours elapsed.
Immediately the Tickford Mustangs found speed, with Cam Waters the first dip below a 1:30s on a 1:29.8994s, with teammate Thomas Randle joining him on a 1:29.9525s.
Waters then went even quicker on a 1:29.7055s, before Matt Payne then moved the marker substantially to a 1:29.3648s.
The marker continued to move closer towards the 1:28s bracket when Broc Feeney laid down a 1:29.1601s, which was then eclipsed by another rookie making his mark.
After Cooper Murray leapt up the timesheets into second, his rookie Erebus teammate Jobe Stewart went fastest of all, edging Feeney's marker to record a 1:29.1601s.
The first driver to dip below a '29 was Aaron Cameron, who dipped to a 1:28.9425s, which was quickly eclipsed by Randle with a 1:28.6360s.
Waters went back to the top on a 1:28.5563s, with Tickford showing early signs that they could repeat their domination of the Sydney 500 from 12 months ago.
With two hours of pre-season testing remaining, Anton De Pasquale sits third in the #18 DEWALT Camaro, with Cameron fourth, and Stewart remaining in fifth.
The top 10 is rounded out by Feeney, Jack Le Brocq (MSR), Declan Fraser (PremiAir), James Golding (BRT), and Zach Bates (MSR).
Andre Heimgartner currently leads the Toyota brigade in 11th, with Macauley Jones 14th, Chaz Mostert 21st, Cameron Hill 23rd, and Ryan Wood 24th.
