Dick Johnson Racing unveils 2026 livery, race numbers for new era
Shell V-Power Racing Team becomes the first to reveal its 2026 look
Brodie Kostecki to race with famous #17, rookie Rylan Gray takes #38
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has kicked off the 2026 Supercars livery reveal season, confirming Brodie Kostecki will race with the #17 in 2026 and beyond.
The Ford team unveiled 2023 champion Kostecki as the new owner of the squad’s iconic #17, which was raced to championships by Dick Johnson and Scott McLaughlin.
Rookie recruit Rylan Gray will take the #38, which returned with the team in 2025 upon Kostecki’s arrival.
The 2026 Shell V-Power Mustangs were unveiled at the team's Family Open Day on Sunday, with Kostecki accepting the #17 number plate from team co-owner Johnson.
Supercars and Australian Motorsport Hall of Famer Johnson raced the #17 to titles in 1981, 1982, 1984, 1988 and 1989, before McLaughlin reeled off three straight titles in the #17 between 2018 and 2020.
The fan-favourite Shell V-Power livery from 2025 returns in 2026 with a series of tweaks, including a midnight blue rear wing.

Also on hand for Sunday’s launch were Executive Chairman Dr Ryan Story AM and incoming CEO Megan Foster.
“When you think of Dick Johnson Racing, you instantly think about the number 17,” Dr Story said.
“#17 is synonymous on track for resilience, tenacity, success and a never surrender attitude. Revered as much as it is feared. Because that's Dick Johnson. That's Scott McLaughlin. And that's most certainly Brodie Kostecki.
“I genuinely can’t wait for 2026 – we’ve got a terrific driver line up, secured a world-class team behind the scenes and are giving ourselves every chance to deliver success throughout this season in our Shell V-Power Mustangs.
“Rylan’s already integrated into our team perfectly and together with Brodie, these two are already making gains in their elite preparation and training. It’s also been amazing to see them both on the workshop floor this pre-season assisting our crew with the preparations of their Shell V-Power Mustangs.”
Co-owner Brett Ralph added: “We know that 2025 was simply not where this team needed to be and through significant changes across the business, we’re excited about what’s to come throughout this year.
“Brodie writing his own chapter in a new number this year is extremely exciting for the team’s legacy and also in writing his own chapter in the DJR history books.
“Rylan’s addition to the team has added an injection of youth and enthusiasm that is clear for all of us to see and we know that his development will continue this year as he begins what will no doubt be an impressive career as full-time Supercars driver in the years ahead.”
Kostecki will shake down his new Mustang in coming days, with Gray also set for a rookie test before the 2026 season begins at Sydney Motorsport Park on 20-22 February.
