Harri Jones puts foot down in hunt for full-time Supercars ride
Jones played key role in securing Jack Le Brocq's Finals berth
Carrera Cup standout only a last-minute addition to enduro grid
Porsche Carrera Cup standout Harri Jones is adamant that he is ready should anyone be willing to hand him a full-time Supercars opportunity for 2027.
Two-time Carrera Cup Australia champion hasn't been shy in declaring his full-time Supercars ambitions since it was announced he would be joining Team 18 for the 2025 enduros, and has been evaluated on several occasions by the now-GM homologation team.
Jones' 2025 enduro campaign ended on a sour note with a heavy practice crash at Bathurst, after a debut top 10 at The Bend. Jones was then replaced by James Courtney in the Team 18 co-driver roster for 2026, before popping up at Matt Stone Racing in a last-minute deal.
The 27-year-old, who overtook the Carrera Cup win tally of the legendary Jim Richards earlier this season, isn't going to die wondering in his quest for a full-time seat, with several rides still officially available for 2027, including at both Team 18 and MSR.
"Yeah, I'd love to go full time. I mean, I've said that from day one that this is the pinnacle category here in Australia, and naturally as a racing driver you wanna race with the best and see how you stack up," said Jones on the Equip Super Cool Down Lap.
"I think, this year it's been great. I feel like my Supercars driving's made a big step forward from where I was at last year, and I feel like I'm understanding the car a lot better and just what it needs to, I guess optimise setup and looking after the tyres and even the strategy.
"Everything around this sport, it's all pretty new to me. But this year I've made a good step forward, and I'm interested to see if there's any opportunities to go full time. I'd definitely grab that with both hands."
His 2026 enduro deal was announced on the eve of the Sprint Cup finale in Ipswich, receiving a call-up to MSR's enduro line-up alongside Jack Le Brocq after Cameron Crick stepped back due to illness.
What was already a rushed lead in hit a further snag when a brake failure sent him into a high-speed crash at the pre-enduro test day at Queensland Raceway. His bounce back across The Bend and Bathurst was exceptional.
He was one of several co-drivers to star in a Tailem Bend deluge, charging to second after dropping to the back with a poor start, while he and Le Brocq finished a fine fourth at Bathurst, having run up front all day.
Jones' efforts proved vital in securing Le Brocq's Finals berth, an impressive effort from a driver who looked destined to be the forgotten man of the co-driver market.
"Yeah, it's pretty surreal. I mean, two months ago, I was still putting in the effort to prepare for this sort of opportunity, but there was nothing really on the radar," Jones added.
"And then to get the call from Matty Stone, and a couple of weeks later racing at the Bend, that was pretty special.
"To come here this weekend, have such a great car from day one, lap one, and see everyone on the team execute so well, it's been a pretty crazy day. So yeah, it's awesome."
