The new Toyota GR Supra Supercar is being put through its paces by Walkinshaw Andretti United in a maiden circuit test at Winton Motor Raceway.
Unveiled at Monday's Repco Bathurst 1000 launch, the Supra travelled from Sydney to Winton for its maiden laps of the 3.0km circuit near Benalla.
Wednesday's running has been centred on engine mileage, led by homologation team WAU.
The Supra is running a 5.2 litre version of Toyota’s quad-cam 2UR-GSE V8, which has been developed specifically for the Gen3 Supercar.
The historic laps commence the second major phase of the Toyota project, following 12 months of development since the Supra was confirmed as an entrant into the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.
" It's been extraordinarily busy. We had a great launch on Monday night, and now we're at the track durability testing and running through paces," WAU CEO Bruce Stewart said at Winton.
"The Supra sounds magnificent and looks beautiful out there. It's a long way to go. We've got a big testing period ahead of us, but we're rapt. This is a super exciting program.
"We're working closely with Toyota. It's great to see their own super on track in Supercars, and at the moment, everyone's working tightly together, bringing it together, testing this package, and ensuring that when we hit the road in 2026, it's ultra competitive."
WAU-contracted Warren Luff is at the helm, with Supercars Hall of Famer Neil Crompton getting behind the wheel of the car at Toyota's Altona proving ground before Monday's unveil. It comes as WAU opts to keep current drivers Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood, who are racing Fords this season, at arm's length until the end of the season.
"It's gone really well this morning," WAU Team Principal Carl Faux added.
"Couldn't have asked for too much more. Program's going really well, and looking forward to the rest of the day. We've got ahead of us.
"Performance of the car's been very good so far. We haven't missed a beat all day. Happy with that.
"Obviously we're not doing any performance testing. We're not doing any chassis tuning or aerodynamic work. This is a test that is purely about engine."
This year's Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 9-12, following the AirTouch 500 at The Bend on September 12-14. The new Supra is set to feature on track and in the paddock at Mount Panorama.
