2025 pushing case for most competitive modern Supercars season
15 different full-time drivers have claimed a podium through 18 races
There are still 15 races left this season, the next coming in Townsville
If you're thinking, 'Gee, there have been a few drivers on the podium this season', you'd be right.
Through 18 completed races, the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship has been one of the most competitive on record, even as Broc Feeney continued his hot streak in Darwin.
Runaway points leader Feeney was joined on the Darwin podium by four drivers across the three races, with two drivers scoring their first podiums of the season.
Anton De Pasquale claimed his first podium for Team 18, while rookie Kai Allen picked up the first Supercars podiums of his career.
It took the season tally to 15 different drivers, which after just six rounds, represents 63% of the field.
Feeney, Cam Waters, Chaz Mostert, Thomas Randle and Will Brown started the year on the podium in Sydney, before Cameron Hill and Nick Percat hit the rostrum in Melbourne.
In New Zealand, and Matt Payne, Ryan Wood, Will Davison and Brodie Kostecki all claimed silverware, taking the tally to 11 through three rounds.
Bryce Fullwood claimed Brad Jones Racing's first and so far only podium of 2025 in Tasmania, before James Courtney snapped Blanchard Racing Team's dry spell in Perth. Come Darwin, and De Pasquale and Allen joined the party.
From 2009 onwards, podium finishers have been the top three in the race. Only five seasons in the last 17 years have had more drivers on the podium than 2025, which still has 14 races left. The 2009 and 2014 seasons had no less than 18 different drivers on the podium, ahead of 2013 (17), 2011 and 2015 (16).
The quality of driver yet to claim a podium suggests there's more to come in 2025; Andre Heimgartner (in eighth), James Golding (14th), Jack Le Brocq (15th), David Reynolds (19th) and Richie Stanaway (21st) are all former podium-sitters. Of that group, only Golding has yet to win a race.
The consistent Heimgartner is perhaps the craziest story of all, given he sits eighth and in a provisional Finals position despite failing to trouble the podium through six rounds.
Of the 11 teams on the 2025 grid, only two have yet to claim a podium: PremiAir Racing and 2023 champions Erebus Motorsport. However, Golding (Tasmania) and Le Brocq (Darwin) have claimed fourth-place finishes, proving both teams aren't far away.
