Jack Le Brocq expects Cooper Murray to fire at Erebus Motorsport
Murray replaces 2023 champion, 2024 Bathurst winner Brodie Kostecki
23-year-old stepped in for Le Brocq at Adelaide finale last November
Jack Le Brocq expects incoming rookie Cooper Murray to fire as Erebus Motorsport prepares for life after Brodie Kostecki.
Rising star Murray will make his full Supercars debut at the upcoming Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round in three weeks' time, having impressed in wildcard starts last season.
Murray, 23, was a standout in Triple Eight Race Engineering's wildcard, scoring a Shootout berth in Darwin, top five at Sandown alongside Craig Lowndes, and ran strongly at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
As Le Brocq left Adelaide midway through the weekend for the birth of his first child, Murray was thrown in the deep end and gained valuable experience racing the biggest names in Supercars.
“Really looking forward to teaming up with Coop. He’s a good young fella. He's very excited,” Le Brocq told Supercars.com.
"I remember what I was like when I first came to the main game. You’re excited to go racing, but your first year is always nerve-wracking.
“You're like a little puppy at a bone, ready to get going. I've been spending a few days with him at the workshop there with the guys. I think he'll do a good job. We work well together.
“Hopefully we go out there and win some races."
Le Brocq wants to carry Erebus' superb end-of-2024 form into 2025, with Kostecki dominating the Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500 finale.
While he didn't get to finish the season in the car, Le Brocq is confident the 2023 champions can hit the ground running.
"I’m feeling really confident about this year. I think it's going to be good fun. Coming off last year, we had some really good speed at the end of the season," Le Brocq said.
"Sure, it's a shame I didn’t get to tackle Adelaide. But we'll just pick up from where we left off.”
Erebus will launch their 2025 season with an open house livery reveal at Melbourne’s Young Timer’s Garage on Saturday February 8, before starting their 2025 campaign in Sydney on February 21-23.
