Brodie Kostecki moved in spare DJR Mustang chassis for Sandown, Adelaide
Kostecki's regular Ford sustained major front end damage in Gold Coast crash
Will Davison raced spare chassis between Perth and The Bend
Brodie Kostecki will contest the final two rounds of 2025 in Dick Johnson Racing's spare chassis that following his Gold Coast crash.
Kostecki's regular chassis, DJRS-07-MR, was damaged in a major qualifying accident on the Saturday of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
DJR completed hurried overnight repairs across its workshop, PACE Innovations and its at-track garage to get Kostecki on track for Sunday's action.
Speaking post-round, Kostecki hailed the repair efforts, saying on his Lucky Dogs podcast: “The car on Sunday was pretty flawless.
“There was nothing wrong with it other than a niggly things with the steering. It was incredible.
“We didn’t really get too much time to really go through it, we checked the wheelbase and the distance between the left hub on the left front, and left rear and the right side.
“Honestly, the car on Sunday was pretty good on the race, we just went for a pretty crazy strategy to try and do something, hoping for something."
DJR confirmed to Supercars.com that it has opted to park DJRS-07-MR for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and bp Adelaide Grand Final, and will move Kostecki into DJRS-08-MR raced by teammate Will Davison between Perth and The Bend.
DJRS-08-MR, with a centre section put together by Erebus Motorsport chassis builder James White, was sidelined as Davison moved into his PACE-built Mustang from Bathurst onwards.
While Kostecki is out of The Finals, the team remains set on finishing the season with strong results.
“We’re not going to turn up our toes. We’re out of The Finals but not out of contention,” DJR CEO David Noble said.
“After Brodie Kostecki’s crash on Saturday the team put in a herculean effort, at home in the workshop and also at the track, to give him a crack on Sunday. It was a reflection of what this team is and what it stands for.
“We have plenty of learnings to carry through the rest of the championship. There are still opportunities for us to put a good package together and race at the front.”
Davison will be replaced by Super2 points leader Rylan Gray in 2026, with Kostecki returning for a second season.
