  • Red Bull Ampol Racing maintain teams' championship lead

  • Dick Johnson Racing fall back after Sunday nightmare

  • Brad Jones Racing also jump forward after shock win

Red Bull Ampol Racing have seen off the growing threat of Penrite Racing for another round to maintain top spot in the Thrifty Teams' Championship.

Whilst the current Ford homologation team Triple Eight enjoyed the top step for the first time in two months on Sunday, former homologation operation Dick Johnson Racing went backwards after a nightmare Sunday.

Refuelling dramas struck both Brodie Kostecki and Rylan Gray, with the rookie forced into making a fourth stop inside the last 10 laps, whilst Kostecki was further hobbled with what he believed to be lingering damage from a Saturday clash with David Reynolds.

Whilst the impact on Kostecki's Repco Sprint Cup hopes has been widely acknowledged, what's flown somewhat under the radar is that the Sunday result has dropped the team backwards in the teams' standings, and Darwin pit lane.

Such was DJR's Sunday struggles, that they fell behind Team 18 into sixth, with the Chevrolet homologation squad boosted by Reynolds' first solo podium for the team, and sneaking into fifth by just 11 points.

They weren't the only team to jump forward in the pit lane order for Darwin, Brad Jones Racing also capitalising on a welcome return to the rostrum to leap ahead of Matt Stone Racing into eighth.

Andre Heimgartner's breakthrough win in Race 15 provided double the pain for MSR, who fall back two pit bays due to the single car entries of BJR (Macauley Jones) and SCT Motorsport (Jackson Walls) being connected to lead BJR pair Heimgartner and Cameron Hill.

BJR and MSR are also locked in a tight battle for seventh with the Blanchard Racing Team, with the trio of teams all separated by just 37 points.

The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship continues at the betr Darwin Triple Crown from June 19-21. Tickets are on sale now.
