For nearly five years, Scott McLaughlin has held the crown as Supercars’ winningest driver in championship races at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit.

In just the second year of points-paying racing at the venue in 2019, McLaughlin won three of the four races aboard a DJR Team Penske Mustang, having won the first 2018 race in a Falcon.

Seven drivers are currently within striking distance of McLaughlin's four – three of which will be on the grid when the MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint fires into life on March 21-24.

Chaz Mostert is the leading candidate, level on three wins with Shane van Gisbergen, who is now plying his trade in NASCAR. Should Mostert win two or more races later this month, he will move into outright top in championship AGP races, and could also become the first repeat winner of the Larry Perkins Trophy.

Mostert won in 2019, just after McLaughlin and Cam Waters collided before the race even began. When Supercars returned to the AGP in 2022 after a COVID-19 layoff, Mostert won two more races to take his tally to three.

Mostert's overall tally of AGP wins is four, having won the final non-championship race in 2017. Van Gisbergen leads the way with 10 wins, but seven of them came between 2012 and 2016 in the non-championship era. Behind him are Russell Ingall (eight), Garth Tander and Mark Winterbottom (both seven).

McLaughlin has seven wins and five poles. While all five poles came in the championship era, McLaughlin took three non-championship wins between 2013 and 2017.

Albert Park was the scene of McLaughlin's very first Supercars triumph in 2013, albeit in a non-championship race. Twelve months later, McLaughlin did it again, this time in a Volvo.

Van Gisbergen's first of 10 wins came while at Stone Brothers Racing in 2012, taking the Sunday race win. He then dominated the 2014 event with Tekno Autosports, winning the first three races before a rollbar issue in the final prevented a sweep.

A move to Triple Eight saw van Gisbergen win three times in 2016, the year he won his maiden championship. However, he would have to wait until 2022 to win again, winning twice before adding another last year.

Tander won in 2000, 2008, 2010 and 2011, and is ahead of Mark Skaife (six wins), Craig Lowndes, Jason Bright and Fabian Coulthard (all five wins).

Brodie Kostecki, won two races at the 2023 AGP en route to title success with Erebus Motorsport. Broc Feeney also won his first race in Melbourne last year, while David Reynolds was a winner in 2018, also with Erebus.

The MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint kicks off on Thursday March 21, with single races on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
