Jack Le Brocq excited for 2025 after exciting family news
Le Brocq missed Adelaide finale due to birth of first child
Erebus driver joined by rookie Cooper Murray in 2025
Jack Le Brocq's life has changed forever off the track, when he was preparing to race his Erebus Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro last November with the possibility wife Mackenzie could go into labour at any minute.
Sure enough, the baby was on its way, and Le Brocq left his car in the capable hands of rookie Cooper Murray to return home for the birth of daughter Romy.
Fast forward two months, and Le Brocq is preparing for life as a driver-father in Supercars, joining fellow drivers Chaz Mostert, James Courtney, Will Davison, Andre Heimgartner and David Reynolds.
For Le Brocq, life as a parent has helped foster his most enjoyable off-season yet, leading to the 32-year-old entering 2025 in a strong headspace.
“It's been good fun, the little one's growing up fast, there are plenty of smiles,” Le Brocq told Supercars.com.
“It's going bloody fast, it's crazy how much they grow. It's like, ‘Bloody hell, where's the little nugget gone?’ She’s still tiny, but, just not as small as she once was.
“I feel very relaxed, I feel like I'm in quite a good headspace with it all. Everything sort of slowed down, but I’ve been able to enjoy time with little one and still get plenty of training in."
That doesn't mean it was all roses, Le Brocq finding it "pretty weird" watching someone else drive his car, a car he drove in Thursday practice in Adelaide before he travelled home.
Now, though, Le Brocq is determined to carry Erebus' strong form into 2025, with Brodie Kostecki winning the Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500 finale.
“Adelaide was pretty weird when I got home and watched Coop in the first practice session,” Le Brocq said.
“Even missing out, though, I’m feeling really confident about this year. I think it's going to be good fun. Coming off last year, we had some really good speed at the end of the season.
"Sure, it's a shame I didn’t get to tackle Adelaide. But we'll just pick up from where we left off.”
Erebus is currently getting used to life after Kostecki, but Le Brocq believes rising star Murray has what it takes to keep the 2023 championship-winning team on its race-winning path.
“Really looking forward to teaming up with Coop. He’s a good young fella. He's very excited,” Le Brocq said.
"I remember what I was like when I first came to the main game. You’re excited to go racing, but your first year is always nerve-wracking.
“You're like a little puppy at a bone, ready to get going. I've been spending a few days with him at the workshop there with the guys. I think he'll do a good job. We work well together.
“Hopefully we go out there and win some races."
Tickets for the season-opening round in Sydney, on February 21-23, are on sale now.
