The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season is on the home stretch, and there are some surprising numbers after seven rounds.

Up and down the pit lane, from garage to garage, there are several fights being waged between teammates for leader status in their respective squads.

How the scorecard looks in later rounds could prove key as off-contract drivers vie to retain their seats, or impress other teams as they seek moves.

With five rounds to go, there's little to split the top four drivers in the championship — from Erebus Motorsport and Triple Eight — in the points and in the head-to-heads.

After 19 races, Brodie Kostecki leads Erebus teammate Will Brown by 41 points. Shane van Gisbergen is 13 points back in third, and just 13 points ahead of Broc Feeney.

Brown has four wins to Kostecki’s three, but Kostecki leads the qualifying and race head-to-heads 13-6, and has 12 podiums to Brown’s nine.

A streak of poor results in Tasmania, Darwin and Townsville for Kostecki helped Brown into the series lead, before Kostecki snatched the orange numbers back in Sydney.

Van Gisbergen and Feeney have four wins each, and the race head-to-head is split at 9-9. However, Feeney leads the qualifying head-to-head 11-8.

The battles are far more one-sided at Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Brad Jones Racing and Matt Stone Racing.

Cam Waters has reiterated his position as Tickford spearhead, easily leading both head-to-heads, with Chaz Mostert again dominating Nick Percat over one lap and in races.

Andre Heimgartner — who already has six podiums — and Jack Le Brocq, meanwhile, are clear leaders at BJR and MSR respectively.

The battles at Penrite Racing and Nulon Racing paint an interesting picture, with rookie Matt Payne keeping David Reynolds honest amid a tough season for the latter.

Kostecki narrowly leads Brown

Reynolds leads the qualifying head-to-head 12-7, and 11-8 in races. James Golding leads Tim Slade 13-6 in qualifying, but Slade has flipped the script in the races.

One of the closest battles is down at Team 18, with Mark Winterbottom narrowly ahead of Scott Pye in both counts. Winterbottom, who won in Darwin, leads the qualifying head-to-head 10-9, and 11-8 in races.

It’s also an evolving story at the Shell V-Power Racing Team, with Anton De Pasquale closing the gap to Will Davison in recent rounds. Davison still leads both counts 13-6 and 12-7, but De Pasquale is improved of late.

De Pasquale has the team’s only pole (Albert Park) and win (Townsville) to date, and has beaten Davison home in the last three races — two of those finishes resulting in trophies for De Pasquale.
