Gen3 testing program ramps up
Gen3 testing will hit top gear in the coming days following last week's maiden team-built Supercar laps.
A flexible testing program sees teams permitted to test without other teams present.
Last week, the Blanchard Racing Team rolled out its new Gen3 Mustang at Winton Motor Raceway.
Todd Hazelwood took the new #3 CoolDrive Ford — chassis BRT001 — for its first laps.
BRT will be in action at Winton again on Tuesday, with Cam Waters to test his #6 Tickford Mustang at the Victorian circuit on Wednesday.
Two teams will also test at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday — the Shell V-Power Racing Team and Matt Stone Racing.
It comes a day after Dick Johnson Racing revealed its new Shell V-Power livery.
DJR and MSR will test a single car each on Tuesday before returning to the Ipswich venue on Thursday.
Wednesday will see Waters drive Gen3 machinery for the first time since he lapped the Mustang prototype in Adelaide last December.
The Tickford star has spent the summer competing in speedways around rural Victoria.
Tickford, like Brad Jones Racing, is building four cars for the forthcoming season. BJR announced Monday that it will commence testing next week.
Penrite Racing last week became the second team to reveal its new look for 2023. The Grove-run team will also test for the first time on Wednesday.
Queensland Raceway will be a hive of activity on Thursday (February 9) as four teams hit the track.
DJR and MSR will be joined by Triple Eight and PremiAir Racing, which will test their respective cars for the first time.
The Triple Eight and PremiAir Racing Camaros have been built at the former’s Banyo headquarters.
DJR tests a day after revealing its 2023 livery
The Gen3 Camaro prototype, meanwhile, was driven by Shane van Gisbergen at Mount Panorama on the weekend.
Van Gisbergen completed track time on Saturday afternoon, sharing the track with the Red Bull RB7 Formula 1 car.
Triple Eight and PremiAir both ran at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour, with Thursday's running just four days after the race.
The Gen3 test program will include more teams next week, with Erebus Motorsport, Team 18 and Walkinshaw Andretti United testing for the first time.
Team 18 has committed to testing on February 14 and 15 next week at Winton. It will also test on March 1.
The next two weeks of testing will be followed by the all-in test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on Wednesday February 22.
The first event of the Gen3 era is the Thrifty Newcastle 500, running on the streets of NSW's second largest city from March 10-12.
