Super2 drivers Jay Hanson and Cooper Murray will sample racing-winning Gen3 machinery at an Erebus Motorsport evaluation day.

Hanson and Murray will steer Will Brown’s #9 Coca-Cola Camaro at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday.

Brown has won three of the last five races, one in Perth and two in Tasmania.

Erebus Academy driver Hanson and Super2 rival Murray will take the reins of Brown’s car, with Brown also on site.

Murray won the first race of the season in Newcastle, with Hanson finishing on the round podium.

Brown, who is second in the Supercars standings, will be on hand to provide support and guidance to the young duo.

“We’re glad to have the opportunity to give Jay and Cooper the chance to test these new cars,” Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said.

“We’ve run these evaluation days in the past and they’ve been really beneficial with the right drivers.

“We believe that Jay and Cooper are at the right point in their careers to show us what they’re capable of and we’ll be trusting their feedback.

“It gives us the opportunity to learn a little bit more about the Gen3 cars away from the race meetings.”

Erebus is using the evaluation day to save more test days ahead of the enduros.

Jack Perkins will race with Brown, with David Russell returning alongside Brodie Kostecki.

“Our intention for our two remaining test days is to do them closer to the enduro events,” Ryan added.

“It’s important heading into Sandown and Bathurst to really focus on the co-drivers and maximise their seat time closer to those race meetings.”

The Super2 season will resume at the NTI Townsville 500 on July 7-9, with Supercars first racing in Darwin on June 16-18.
