Supercars approves centre of gravity adjustments
Multiple cars from all three manufacturers tested after Bend
2026 Supercars season resumes at Bathurst
Supercars has approved centre of gravity (CoG) adjustments following successful CoG testing, which took place after The Bend.
Multiple cars from all three manufacturers — Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota — were tested in Melbourne in the days after the Ryco Enduro Cup opener.
Centre of gravity is the balance point of an object, and in a race car, is located between the front and rear wheels and ideally as close to the ground as physically possible.
Following a review of the latest testing, which used an average of multiple cars to generate a more accurate CoG target, a revised tolerance was agreed by the three homologation teams for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Taking into account the revised tolerance, adjustments have been calculated accordingly to match the Mustang, Camaro and Supra, effective from Bathurst.
This has been achieved by reducing CoG ballast located on the roll cage in the Camaro, with no changes required to either the Mustang or Supra.
All parties agreed it was the most accurate CoG test to date, which provides a strong foundation for even more accurate testing and regulations in the future.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship resumes at Mount Panorama on October 8-11. Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are on sale now.
