Supercars centre of gravity testing underway
10 cars from eight different teams to be used in testing
2026 season resumes in Bathurst on October 8-11
Supercars will conduct centre of gravity (CoG) testing this week as the championship shifts focus to Bathurst.
Confirmed last week, Supercars will undertake CoG testing on cars from all three manufacturers following the Tailem Bend event.
The testing will take place at Dunlop’s Melbourne facility.
CoG is the balance point of an object, and in a race car, is located between the front and rear wheels and ideally as close to the ground as physically possible.
Supercars conducted specific CoG testing post the on-track Bathurst 12 Hour test back in February.
Testing in February featured a single car from each homologation team.
This week’s exhaustive test features 10 cars from eight different teams, from varying chassis ages.
Three new-for-2026 Mustangs from Triple Eight (#888), Grove Racing (#26) and Tickford Racing (#6) will be used.
Three Supras from Walkinshaw TWG Racing (#2) and Brad Jones Racing (#8 and #14) have also been assigned to the testing.
Four Camaros have been picked: Erebus Motorsport’s #9, Team 18’s #20 and #15 wildcard, and PremiAir Racing’s #31.
The #26 Ford, #2 Toyota, #888 Ford and #31 Chevrolet finished second through fifth on Sunday at The Bend, with Toyota breaking through for its maiden Supercars enduro win at their first attempt.
