Gen3 Supercar to battle bike, plane at Phillip Island
Phillip Island to host final MotoGP Grand Prix this weekend
Victorian venue returns to Supercars calendar in 2027
A Gen3 Supercar will take on bike and plane machinery in a special Phillip Island demonstration.
The famous Victorian venue, which will host Supercars from 2027, will stage this weekend’s MotoGP Australian Grand Prix, the last at Phillip Island.
As part of the celebrations, a Gen3 Ford Mustang will be pitted against plane and two-wheel power in a series of demonstrations.
Confirmed by organisers on the eve of this weekend’s MotoGP event, a Tickford Racing Ford — driven by Super2 driver Reuben Goodall — will go head-to-head with a plane and bike.
Red Bull Air Race champion Matt Hall, a regular in Supercars event entertainment, will take to the skies, while MotoGP race winner Chris Vermeulen and newly crowned FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup champion Archie McDonald will share bike duties.
The demonstration laps will take place on the Friday and Saturday of the October 23-25 event.
It also offers a preview of Supercars' exciting future at Phillip Island, which will host a Finals round from 2027.
Supercars have gone head-to-head with bikes and planes a number of times in recent years.
Notably, James Courtney took on Wayne Maxwell in a Superbike vs Supercar showdown at the 2022 Darwin Triple Crown. Will Brown, meanwhile, battled Hall at last year's Avalon Australian International Airshow.
Goodall takes the reins of the Tickford Mustang in place of Thomas Randle, who will be on track at this weekend’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
