Supercars has announced the minimum weights for the Gen3 cars, which debut next week at the Thrifty Newcastle 500.

The minimum weight for all cars without carrying excessive ballast is 1335kg total dry (of fuel) and 725kg minimum front axle, with driver ballast (to 95kg).

The ballast can be shared across the undertray ballast position on the front clip for front axle minimum weight and the driver’s seat ballast position and the coolsuit box fixing locations only.

When cars are presented at Newcastle for dry weight, Supercars will log the ballast weight and locations. Supercars will monitor and adjust the weights as and when further information comes to hand.

Supercars has based the position on the information provided to it by the teams.

The Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang hit the track for their official debut next week at the opening event of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, the Thrifty Newcastle 500.

Tickets are available through Ticketek. Off track the event will feature two huge nights of eight performances on stage headlined by Icehouse on Friday night and Hilltop Hoods on Saturday night.
