Tim Miles passing driving GT star's Bathurst 1000 dream
Brendon Leitch tested Matt Stone Racing Camaro in February
Leitch early wildcard co-driver frontrunner, Aaron Seton recently confirmed
A Bathurst 1000 drive remains in the sights of Kiwi sportscar ace Brendon Leitch, who fell short of securing a 2025 deal.
Leitch, a Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe champion, tested a Matt Stone Racing Chevrolet Camaro in Sydney earlier this year.
The New Zealander emerged as a frontrunner to secure the co-drive slot alongside Cameron Crick, which was recently filled by Aaron Seton.
A winner in several categories worldwide, Leitch also contested GT World Challenge Australia alongside the late Tim Miles, who passed away earlier this month.
In confirming he will not contest this weekend's GT round at Sandown, Leitch revealed Miles was a key driver behind the MSR cameo.

Additionally, Miles had pushed Leitch towards chasing a Great Race start, with the globetrotting driver now determined to become the latest New Zealander to contest the Great Race.
“Tim saw potential in me and was the key that opened the door to a Supercars test with Matt Stone Racing,” Leitch explained.
“I think it speaks to Tim’s pulling power that it took very little convincing for teams to take some interest in me.
“Unfortunately, a deal has not come together yet to race at The Bend 500 and the Bathurst 1000 this year, but I’ve still got a close eye on Supercars and am keen to make Tim’s vision of me being on the Great Race grid at Mount Panorama a reality one day.
“Tim played a massive part in motorsport and business, and I was fortunate enough to be one of so many he made a lasting impression on.”
Miles was farewelled in a Sydney service last week, and will be buried in his native New Zealand this week.
One seat remains vacant on the 2025 Enduro Cup grid — the slot alongside Richie Stanaway at PremiAir Racing. The team will run an evaluation day next week, with Nash Morris the frontrunner to seal the drive.
