Buckley resumes Super2 campaign in Bathurst
Rising star Alice Buckley has relished a crack at a Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro, with the teenager scoring a number of laps at Queensland Raceway.
Buckley, who is competing Super2 and Trans Am machinery in 2026, stepped into Matt Stone Racing's wildcard Camaro at Wednesday's ride session day in Ipswich.
After a brief taste of Gen3 last year, Buckley enjoyed plenty of laps in the Camaro, which was raced by third-generation driver Aaron Seton at last weekend's Supercars round.
"I had a pretty awesome day,” Buckley told Supercars.com.
"MSR gave me the opportunity to do some ride laps with some sponsors, which was pretty unbelievable."
While ride session laps are low pressure, Buckley still managed to get to grips with the Gen3 car, which offers far less downforce than her Gen3 Commodore.
“There were parts that I could push a little bit,” Buckley said.
"I feel like it doesn't exactly handle the same in the sense that it doesn't understeer as much. It has a lot less aerodynamics, so it's less dependent on the braking. But yeah, it's a pretty cool car.
"I love the car. There are definitely similarities between the Super2 car and the Gen3 car. I think there's also similarities compared to the Trans Am car.
"I think it's a nice mush between both of the cars, and I really enjoyed driving it.”
Buckley's next Super2 assignment comes at the big one in October — the Repco Bathurst 1000.
"I'm really excited for Bathurst,” she said.
“We've had a bit of a up and down championship, but I've learned so much in Super2 so far.
"I’m enjoying racing that car in that category, so I'm looking forward to Bathurst, for sure."
The 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series season resumes at Mount Panorama on October 8-11.
