Crick sidelined, Jones earns Supercars recall
Cameron Crick has been formally ruled out of the upcoming enduros, with Matt Stone Racing calling up Carrera Cup gun Harri Jones alongside Jack Le Brocq.
Two-time Porsche Carrera Cup champion Jones will make a surprise return to Supercars in place of Crick, who has withdrawn due to ongoing health concerns.
Crick had already been sidelined from a wildcard appearance at the NTI Townsville 500, with third-generation racer Aaron Seton stepping up in his absence.
In a team statement, MSR is "working closely with Crick on his recovery plan, with the focus firmly on supporting his return to racing in 2027."
"It's obviously tough to be stepping away from the Enduros, but right now my health has to come first," Crick said.
"I'm incredibly grateful to Matt and the team at Matt Stone Racing for the support they've shown me throughout this process, and while I'll be cheering the team on from the sidelines this year, I'm working hard to return back behind the wheel in 2027."
Jones returns to the Supercars fold following his debut with Team 18 last season. Jones raced alongside Anton De Pasquale, before being replaced by 2025 Bathurst runner-up Lee Holdsworth in a co-driver shuffle.
With James Courtney joining Team 18, Jones was left without a co-drive, before Crick's untimely health battles reopened the door.
"I'm really excited to be joining Matt Stone Racing for the Enduro Cup," Jones said.
"The team has been really competitive this season and it's a fantastic opportunity to be part of that. I'm looking forward to working alongside Jack and the crew, getting comfortable in the car and doing everything I can to help deliver a strong result at Bathurst."
Team owner Stone paid tribute to Crick, and is adamant Jones can do a job for Le Brocq, who is fighting for a Finals berth.
"First and foremost, our thoughts are with Cameron," Stone said.
"He's become a genuine part of the MSR family over the past few years, and the team will continue to support him however we can while he focuses on his recovery. We're looking forward to seeing him back racing in 2027.
"At the same time, we're very pleased to welcome Harri to the team. He's proven himself at the highest level of Australian GT and Porsche competition, impressed in his Supercars opportunities and comes highly regarded within the GM family.
"While it's a late change, we're confident he'll fit into our programme quickly and give Jack and the No.4 crew every opportunity to continue the momentum we've built this season heading into the biggest race of the year and into the Finals."
Le Brocq added: "First and foremost, I'm wishing Cameron all the best with his recovery. He's a good friend and a central part of the MSR team. We'll certainly miss having him around this Enduro season.
"At the same time, I'm looking forward to working with Harri. He's proven himself across a lot of categories and I'm confident we'll be able to hit the ground running together heading into some of the biggest races of the year."
Seton will steer MSR's wildcard at Ipswich next weekend before Jones partners Le Brocq at The Bend on September 11-13. Seton will partner rookie Zach Bates in the enduros.
