Team Kiwi Racing set for Bathurst comeback in Super2
Three New Zealanders to test Commodore at Winton on Wednesday
Chris Pither, Brendon Leitch, Brent Collins will test Holden
Team Kiwi Racing is set for a surprise Bathurst return, with three New Zealanders being evaluated at Winton.
The David John-run team will roll out at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday ahead of a planned DUNLOP Super2 Series cameo at Mount Panorama.
The livery, revealed on Wednesday, features a classic black livery with TKR's famed #021.
Super2 champion Chris Pither, GT World Challenge Australia title contender Brendon Leitch, and TA2 driver Brent Collins will test on Wednesday.
After Wednesday’s evaluation, TKR will then nominate a driver to complete a full test day, also at Winton, on Thursday.
The three Kiwis are at different stages of their respective careers. Pither last raced a Supercar in 2022, and won the Super2 crown in 2018. Leitch, meanwhile, first lapped a Matt Stone Racing Camaro at last February's Sydney ride day.
Veteran Collins won the inaugural Toyota Racing Series in 2005.
An ex-Erebus Motorsport ZB Commodore will be used at Wednesday’s evaluation day, with the car to be engineered by Image Racing boss Terry Wyhoon.
TKR has reemerged on the racing scene throughout 2026, with the team notably having a trackside presence at the ITM NZ Double Header earlier this year.
The team’s return come as part of TKR’s 25th anniversary celebrations, when the Kiwi squad contested the 2001 V8 Supercars championship season.
TKR made its championship debut at the 2000 Bathurst 1000, with the late Jason Richards and Angus Fogg steering an all-Kiwi line-up.
John has teased the surprise cameo on TKR’s social media accounts in recent weeks, before revealing his three drivers for the evaluation, and the Bathurst plans.
