The tyre allocation for the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, the first season of the Gen3 era, has been confirmed.
This season is the 22nd for Dunlop as the control tyre supplier of Supercars.
There are three dry compounds of Dunlop's control SP Sport Maxx tyres in use this season — Hard, Soft, Super Soft, along with the new wet weather tyre.
Supercars and Dunlop have devised a new wet tyre compound for 2023, which has proven capable of dispersing impressive quantities of water.
The Soft tyre will be used at the Thrifty Newcastle 500, the Perth SuperSprint, NTI Townsville 500, Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight, the OTR SupeSprint (The Bend), Repco Bathurst 1000, Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and VALO Adelaide 500.
The Super Soft will be used at the Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint at the Australian Grand Prix, NED Whisky Tasmania SupeSprint, BETR Darwin Triple Crown and Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
The Hard tyre’s only appearance will come at Albert Park, the scene of the only mixed compound round of the 2023 Championship.
Rounds at Perth, Tasmania, Darwin and The Bend will again feature a compulsory stop for a minimum of two tyres.
The Albert Park round, meanwhile, will feature compulsory four-tyre stops in each of the four sprint races.
Sydney’s night race will be 200km and will feature two two-tyre stops including fuel. The second race will be a single-stop 100km sprint.
The Newcastle, Townsville, Gold Coast and Adelaide Super500 events will be two-tyre, two-stop races.
The Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000 will, like the Super500 rounds, feature refuelling.
Competitors will hand back two sets of 'event marked' tyres and pre-marked tyres for each car before the first qualifying session.
As was the case in 2022, every Dunlop Super2 and Dunlop Super3 Series round will see each driver allocated eight new Hard tyres.
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.
Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
