Prodrive Racing Australia again ruled the roost at the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint, but Triple Eight proved its comeback is imminent at 'the paperclip' over the weekend.
Craig Lowndes -who sits second in the Championship and pegged back some points to leader Mark Winterbottom - said they were 'looking around the corner' and Whincup showed pace, despite ultimately falling away in the final race yesterday.
Young gun Chaz Mostert converted one of his eight ARMOR ALL Pole Positions to a race win and now lurks third in the Championship, wingman to Winterbottom who earlier in the week said the Fords needed to ban together to shut out the usually dominant Holdens.

Mark Winterbottom -Pepsi Max Crew - finished first, first and third
The Championship leader has maintained a good buffer over Craig Lowndes and achieved something he had never done before, winning four on the trot when he backed up his Townsville victories with two wins on Saturday, on both compounds of the Dunlop tyre.
He says he's not yet feeling Championship pressure, but almost one round clear of Lowndes, he is surely the one to beat to the title this time around.
Throw in three front row qualifying efforts, and it's hard to look past Frosty.
Chaz Mostert -Pepsi Max Crew -finished fifth, third and first
He doesn't like to talk Championship, but this young gun should be one of the guys taking it to his teammate come December if he can continue to run at the front and convert his qualifying form to race wins.
Mostert kept his cool across 200km yesterday to win his first Sunday race of the year and bank the big 150 points.
He's now sitting third, 292 points behind Winterbottom and 36 behind second placed Lowndes.
Watch out for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winner, as the enduros approach.
Craig Lowndes -Red Bull Racing Australia -finished third, second and second
The Championship points gap is bigger than it was going into the event, but smaller than after Saturday's races, with Lowndes pegging back a handful of points after a strong Sunday performance.
He clearly had speed on his teammate Jamie Whincup yesterday, the #1 making a pass easy for Lowndes early in the race, and with new-for-2015 engineer Grant McPherson is keeping the Falcons in check.
He's flying the flag for Holden at the front and can't be counted out with some of his strongest tracks still to come this season.
Jamie Whincup - Red Bull Racing Australia -finished eighth, fifth and eighth
While Whincup's form is still not back to the standard he is used to, the six-time champ is staying positive and keeping his attention off the Championship points as he works with a tweaked engineering group to find some pace.
Whincup said the team definitely made gains on Saturday -which saw him finish fifth and qualify fourth on Sunday - but he was unable to capitalise during the race.
He had an enjoyable scrap with good mate Will Davison late in Sunday's race, joking he needed to add some entertainment value to the race.
The Red Bull racer backed up his top five finish in Townsville at Queensland Raceway and seems to be getting somewhere, though the points gap is now 480 to Winterbottom. Whincup is tied with Garth Tander on 1264 points.
