Tickford confirms 2024 restructure

Tickford Racing will campaign two Ford Mustangs in the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, the team has announced.

The Campbellfield squad has run four entries since the beginning of 2022, but has opted to shift to a two-car program from next season.

As it stands, there are 25 cars spread across two four-car teams, eight two-car teams and sole single-car squad, the Blanchard Racing Team.

In a statement released Friday, Tickford CEO and Team Principal Tim Edwards said the move to two cars will help the team's chances to fight for championships.

Edwards added what the team will look like in 2024 will be revealed in due course, with Friday's news fuelling more speculation in what has already been a busy silly season.

Cam Waters, James Courtney, Thomas Randle and Declan Fraser are currently Tickford's four full-time drivers.

Team spearhead Waters has raced full-time for the team since 2016, and has taken Tickford's last eight wins dating back to 2020.

2010 series champion Courtney joined Tickford midway through 2020 after leaving Team Sydney, and was recently linked to both BRT and Matt Stone Racing.

Randle joined full-time in 2022 after running wildcard starts in 2019 and 2021, with Fraser joining in place of Jake Kostecki this year.

Tickford’s sole championship win came in 2015 courtesy of Mark Winterbottom, with the team also winning the Bathurst 1000 in 2013 and 2014.

“Tickford Racing has committed to running a two-car team in the 2024 Supercars Championship,” Edwards said.

"The sole motivation behind the decision is to focus all the team’s energy and resources toward again becoming a Championship-winning team in the 2024 season and beyond.

"The business has been working on a number of strategic plans on how best to position Tickford Racing into the future for greater success in all its racing programs.

"Further information on what the team will look like in 2024 will be released in due course.

"The entire Tickford Racing team remains focused on the 2023 Championship, especially as we head into the Enduros, and maximising our results at the last four events of the year.”

Tickford has expanded this year in other sectors; notably, it is running two cars in the Dunlop Series, and also launched a non-motorsport engineering arm.

Waters is highest of the Tickford quartet in the standings, currently sitting sixth in the championship heading to the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

The Penrite Oil Sandown 500 will be held on September 15-17. Tickets are on sale now.
